The Ice User committee
The Ice User committee is a group of amazing individuals that have an enormous amount of respect for each other, the group they represent, our community and its needs, along with the recognition that we need to share a collaborative approach with the City of Burlington staff to ultimately meet ice needs in Burlington.
The Ice Users Committee includes the following organizations:
- Burlington City Rep Hockey Club
- Burlington Girls Hockey Club
- Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association
- Burlington Oldtimer’s Hockey Club
- Burlington Skating Centre
- Golden Horseshoe Hockey League
- Ringette Association of Burlington
The Ice User group works together with the City of Burlington to provide ice, collaborative programming and build arenas in order to meet the individual needs of the various ice users and the community. We meet on a monthly basis and representatives from each ice user group, along with city staff address the community/ice user needs in an open forum discussion as per an agenda. Minutes of the meeting are taken by city staff and distributed by city staff to the Ice Users prior to the next meeting for approval. The collaboration is unique and very effective.
Essentially, each Ice User group has committed to utilize a certain number of hours of ice time on an annual basis at an hourly rate that includes a surcharge to support the ice needs in Burlington. This group has an energy, loyalty and committment to a vision for future growth within Burlington and meeting the ice needs as defined by each ice user.
